I consider the Black Canyon to be one of Colorado's top two most impressive single features, with the Great Sand Dunes being the other. The canyon is 53 miles in length, but its most dramatic stretch is its fourteen miles within its national park boundary. There is nothing else like it in North America, with its narrow rim span and its unbelievable sheer depth, where it reaches up to 2,722 feet. It provides rather dramatic views to say the least, and the faded roar of the Gunnison River below aids making this a place that wows the senses.
